Last year I made the decision to get healthy again and work with my friend and trainer Kerven Germain. Kerven worked out with me twice a week and I worked out on my own the other days. Unfortunately, sometimes our busy schedules get in the way and leave us with minimal work out time. This was me over the holiday; stress, lack of time and travel left me with less than two days to work out, at least less than two days to feel motivated to. But one thing I did stay consistent with was my nutrition.

I have tried it all, Whole 30, cutting carbs, keto etc. None of it worked for me. I gained weight on keto, twice! It's just not realistic for me. The best lifestyle meal plan that works for me has always been counting macros. What is a macro? Basically the breakdown of carbs, fats and protein that goes into a calorie. I use My Fitness Pal to track it. What I didn't know before working out with Kerven was there are better times of the day to eat certain macros. And intermittent fasting does work. So I wanted to give you a quick look into how I kept up with my weight loss without working out 5 days a week.

My macros are as follows:

Carb 90g
Fat 50g
Protein 120g

Yes you get 90g of carbs everyday on this plan! Ok so in the morning I either don't eat and fast until lunchtime or have a shake.

My shakes consist of:

1 scoop chocolate protein
(I use Designer Whey or
310 Nutrition- click here and use code 310AJENN for free shipping)
1 scoop Chia Seeds
(you can find them on Amazon here)
1 TSP Almond Butter
(I use Barney or Trader Joes)
1 Banana
1 cup no sugar Almond Milk
½ cup of frozen berries

Calories 415
Carbs 41g
Fat 11g
Protein 40g

Lunches I vary, I will mostly do salads with almonds, chicken, low fat cheese and ranch or Italian dressing. I really like Alessi soups too. Half of the bean soup pack is only 15 carbs! I pretty much stay away from breads at lunch time and try not to do carbs because they will make you tired in the afternoon. I keep my carbs very low at lunch.

Snacks I will do stick of low fat cheese, or Triple Zero yogurt. I also am obsessed with celery and low sugar peanut butter or almond butter.

Dinner varies too but I do consume most of my carbs at dinner. Kerven said to do this because it helps you sleep. If I feel like I had a lot of food throughout the day I will just do a plain shake and salad. But normally I do grilled chicken, salmon or turkey.

Here are some of my favorite dinners!

Mexican Bowl:
chicken or ground turkey
brown rice
avocado
salsa
Mexican chees
dollop of non-fat plain Greek yogurt

Harvest Bowl:
quinoa OR sweet potatoes
chicken OR turkey
dried cranberries
chopped up celery
avocado
drizzle of Balsamic reduction

Chicken Parm:
Grilled chicken
1 can of low sodium chopped tomatoes
¼ cup non-fat mozz cheese
1 spaghetti squash
Crushed red pepper

One of the most difficult things for me is that I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I cut back a ton actually but I still have some desserts that are healthier to indulge in.

No Crust Apple Pie:
1 Apple
Brown Sugar
Cinnamon
Low Fat Cool Whip
Heat in microwave for 1 min

PB Chocolate Banana:
(Only if I didn't have a banana in my shake that day)
1 banana
1 TBP PB
5-10 Choc chips
put on baking pan, heat for 10 min on 350
IT MUST BE IN THE OVEN! Not microwave!

I also have used tea a lot to help reduce cravings. When I am hungry and I know I can't eat I will have a cup of tea (or coffee) to stop the craving. My other problem is wine! Honestly, I try to stick to just drinking on weekends and did switch to straight liquor for a little while but I love wine, so I try to be smart about it. If I drank a lot or know I am going to I will cut back on my carbs that day or the day after.

So if you drank and you're over your carbs that day by 30g then the next day cut your carbs by 50g so it balances out. Maybe try to go for a run or a walk too! We should really all try to give our bodies some form of exercise daily. I love cardio but again during my busy times at work it's hard to stay motivated when it's dark and cold out when I get home.

I hope this helps!! Let me know if you have any questions!

**these macros numbers were given to me based on my height and weight, not everyone's will be the same.

XO, Cheers!

Ah the first Friday & blog of the new DECADE. Can you believe it's 2020?? Wasn't it just 2000.. I'm confused. Well I can say in 20 years I have learned a LOT. If you haven't, you may wanna take a look at yourself. haha.

I had a convo with my friend a few weeks back and she was saying how she was not sure if she wanted to have kids because of her anxiety and letting other people control her emotions too much. This was me a few years ago. When I say a few, like TWO.
I was always emotional and let other people's actions control my emotions, it was not healthy. I had to stop and realize it was me, no one else who was making me feel the way I was; a rollercoaster of anger, depression, anxiety and rejection.

I had a convo with my friend a few weeks back and she was saying how she was not sure if she wanted to have kids because of her anxiety and letting other people control her emotions too much. This was me a few years ago. When I say a few, like TWO.

I was always emotional, let other people's actions control my emotions, and took everything personal. It was not healthy. I had to stop and realize it was me, no one else who was making me feel the way I was; a rollercoaster of anger, depression, anxiety and rejection.

I started therapy, went on some anxiety meds and since then have learned that if you let go and let God control things around you, it makes your life and body much less stressed. I learned I can't worry about anyone else's actions or opinions of me because that is not a reflection of who I am. I am who God says I am, period. And I deserve what God says I do.

For a while I was really sad about being single. Then Dan and I started dating and it was nice to have someone but I think through the year I just really learned to grow and love myself more than anything. In the beginning of December we called it quits for mutual reasons, but we are still BEST FRIENDS. While it seemed like a good idea on paper, our chemistry was more friends and we wanted to keep it that way. When it ended, I wasn't sad... I was SO happy because we got SO close as friends again and we had some amazing experiences!

When I left the relationship what I realized was I never lost myself, so coming out of it wasn't difficult. In the past I lost myself time and time again. I will NEVER do that ever again. I learned that not everything is meant to last forever and not everyone is supposed to be in your life forever. It is what it is. The people meant to be there, will always be there. The one's who are cruel with their words, and have evil in their hearts are the ones you need to shake your head, roll your eyes at and just walk away.

STRESS creates wrinkles ladies, LET. THE. SHIT. GO!

Also,  I learned to embrace being single and give more time to God, to better my body, my mind and my experiences without having to answer to anyone else. And I am LOVING IT.

Embrace where you are in your life, because you may not be there again.

...

Tips if you are going through a tough break up:

1. Find a show you can relate to that makes you lose yourself in it. Mine is always One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl or Grey's Anatomy.

2. Music. Make a playlist for however you are feeling and play it over and over again. I like angry girl music such as Miranda Lambert or Ariana Grande.

3. Get dressed up and go out with your girls, even if it's nothing fancy. Make yourself feel alive again.

4. Find a new hobby whether it be working out, writing, reading a new book or starting a blog!

5. Don't rush to find someone else. Take this time to heal and mend your soul with family and friends and things that bring you joy!

Set Goals, Sleep, Wake up, Crush Goals, Repeat.

Goals are important. Yes it's kind of like planning but not really. The difference is, most goals can be controlled by YOU where as plans for your life are mostly controlled by GOD. I am a planner, always have been but in 2019 I kinda threw my hands up in the air & have gone with the flow & it's been the best year yet. Life wasn't meant for us to stress or cry over, it was meant to be lived everyday doing something that brings you joy. It doesn't have to be work, but take time everyday to do something you love doing. Don't do anything that doesn't bring you happiness, it's a waste of your precious time.

Surround yourself with people who make you belly laugh. My girl friends, sister and Dan are those people for me. They make me laugh until I am red in the face and cramping in the belly.

Fall in love with a new hobby, for me it became working out and drinking tea.. is that a hobby?? Enjoy the chaos, appreciate the surprises & accept when things don't go our way. When I am acting a fool over something so silly I say "Jenn people are dying, this is nothing, please slow your roll." And I remember that work is work, I don't cure cancer, no one is dying on my table.

I give everything the best effort & most attention I can, shit happens we are all human & made beautifully imperfect! Once you can accept that & roll with the punches life becomes a lot more fun promise!!

If I could have lunch with one person who Influences me in a positive way it would be Lysa Terkeurst, the author of "Uninvited". That book saved my life I swear. It made me accept uncertainty, accept Gods plan over my own dreams and made me stop taking everything so personally... it's not always about me haha!! Lysa's books talk about not feeling good enough, having so much urge to control everything and accepting that God is in charge & when you let Him do the work things seem to work out better than you planned.

I am re-reading this for the second time and I relate so much to her. She has the same doubts and fears that we all do. It's nice to know someone we look at as such a devout Christian still has feelings of being uninvited, unaccepted and a fear of abandonment. Her dad actually left her and her mom when she was younger and from that point on, she never felt loved or wanted. She had to retrain her heart and mind to believe that God and other people actually love her.

I used to have a really bad fear of abandonment but I have been getting a lot better with that in understanding that God will never leave me and that is all that matters. My value and my worth does not come from other people's opinions or what I do in life, it comes from God and within period. Nothing from this outside world will build you up or fill your cup like God and the Bible. I love shoes, I love designer bags, yes they make me feel pretty but in my darkest moment, my LV Neverfull would have never shown me the light.

I have read two of Lysa's books and they are just everything I have gone through, felt and fought through to get to this comfortable, happy place in my life. She (& Jesus) is who I would love to sit down with to talk about the beauty in the darkness, the happiness in the light & the life that God intended for us.

They understand your unrealistic emotional rollercoasters. We all know the female breed has a whirlwind of emotions bundled up just waiting to burst out at any given moment and men just are not equipped to handle it. If we want to cry, we accept it; if we want to scream; let it out girl; if we want to complain about something that in the grand scheme of life, doesn't even amount to a grain of sand, we're here for ya! We are more accepting to breakdowns, devilish outbursts and shutdowns, it's what we are good at!

We are more accepting to breakdowns, devilish outbursts and shutdowns, it's what we are good at!

  1. We are good listeners. We know most men just nod their heads and pretend to listen to what you are saying while tackling something around the house, but they didn't listen. They heard you, but listening is not their forte. Women listen, accept and give meaningful advice in return. I feel women have experienced more than men because when they go through a difficult time, they actually feel it, talk about it and release it. Most men hold things in and never really re-cover. I am NOT bashing men here, I am just stating my opinions on why having girlfriends is so important!

  2. Most women are self-less, at least the women I hang around. I know if I needed any of my girlfriends they would drop everything they are doing to be there for me in a second. Not saying Dan wouldn't do that, but it may take some begging. If i want to cry, if I need a drink, if it's something so silly my girls are on board with whatever I need. If I say "hey I need to get out of town!" They say "where to?". Last year, Marissa and I were both in bad places and out of nowhere we said "Let's go to Texas!" And two weeks later we off to Houston and Austin to leave our probs behind.

  3. You can be yourself. Sometimes with guys you have to hold back a little or pretend. With your girlfriends you can 100% be yourself. It's comfortable and stressfree. Women all have weird things they do they like to hide from men, but you would totally break that weird shit out in front of your GFs. For instance, I like to start watching Hallmark Christmas movies mid-October, Marissa is on board, Dan is not. I am pretty much myself in front of Dan because we were friends for so long, but I still can't say certain things to him I can my girls.

    5. Women are loyal beings and won't cheat on you! They are fa life. Mostly. I feel like the friends you have in your 30s will most likely be your friends forever. You should have boiled all the bad eggs by this point. Yes some people grow apart but once you get to 34 the friends you have are legit. You are more selective when choosing them, and the ones who made it this far from childhood passed the loyalty test years ago. It's much easier to forgive your babes than a man sometimes.

So... about a year ago I joined the new relationship 15 lb club! You know, the "we're having fun let's eat and drink all we want" . Well, two months ago I looked at myself in the mirror and was like "omg what happened?!?!" Of course Dan is always like "you look great" lol but this wasn't for him or anyone else it was for me. I felt like crap!

So... about a year ago I joined the new relationship 15 lb club! You know, the "we're having fun let's eat and drink all we want" . Well, two months ago I looked at myself in the mirror and was like "omg what happened?!?!" Of course Dan is always like "you look great" lol but this wasn't for him or anyone else it was for me. I felt like crap!

So I started a 30 day plan with AtmosEffect (gym on wheels) and my friend -slash- trainer Kerven! I told him, "I need carbs, I like wine & sweets HELP!" Kerven helped to get me on a weekly workout routine six days a week & also helped me diet without having to cut things the things I love!! [my sister swears by macros eating & it really does work people]!! Macros eating is a healthier way to eat for your body. I have anxiety so cutting carbs was not good for me, it made me gain weight. So for instance here was my macros diet plan:

130g protein
90g carbs
50g fat

My daily meals would look like this:

Workout
Protein Shake

-Breakfast-
2 eggs with cheese

-Snack-
Celery with almond butter

-Lunch-
¼ cup jasmine rice
4oz grilled chicken

3oz green veggie

OR

Salad with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, balsamic vinaigrette

-Snack-
Chobani less sugar Strawberry greek yogurt

-Dinner-

Salmon or Chicken
Sweet potatoes
Veggies

-Snack-
¼ cup Halo Top
OR
5oz glass of Cabernet

I do drink a lot of coffee and teas as well without any creamer. In my shakes for a meal replacement I will add banana, almond butter, clean protein obvi, and some frozen berries. I also like making chia pudding, which is 3 TSP of chia seeds, 1 cup almond milk; chill it overnight then add berries in the morning.

The last time I had a trainer I dropped weight FAST I was also 28. Being 34 it took longer but at 4 weeks I dropped 4 inches in my waist, at 5 weeks I dropped 2 more. My legs are stronger and more cut, my butt is lifted & I am a size 4 again!! I still have a lot of work to do - especially with these arms [sore subject]— but I now have a new mindset and healthier lifestyle!! We all fall short sometimes and have to reset and reboot. Don't get down on yourself, just start somewhere!

Since I started my blog in 2016 it has always been a goal of mine to go to New York Fashion Week. I had no idea what it entailed to go or what would need to happen I just knew I wanted to be like Carrie Bradshaw, front and center.

Since I started my blog in 2016 it has always been a goal of mine to go to New York Fashion Week. I had no idea what it entailed to go or what would need to happen I just knew I wanted to be like Carrie Bradshaw, front and center.

In 2017 and 2018 I started on the slimmer end by taking on Miami Swimweek. Those seemed to be pretty successful so for 2019 we decided we were doing NYWF in September. This is the show where they reveal springs and summer 2020 styles.

We started planning in July. What I did not know was anyone can go to fashion week, but you need to be invited to the shows. Ok great. Step one, find out who will be going with you and staying with you. Step two, find a place to stay. We emailed multiple hotels for collabs in exchage for a free stay but since we are micro-influencers at this point and fashion week is just "too busy" for them to give a room away we were going to need to pay. Luckily for myself, Tamy and Christina I travel a lot for work and had a few thousand points to use on a Hilton. Not enough for the whole time, but enough to take about $350 off. We ended up booking at the Doubletree Times Square West. I figured anywhere in Times Square was a good location.

The next step is to start building your wardrobe. I partner with JustFab and ShoeDazzle so they sent me a selection of fantastic styles to wear during the week. I also bought items from the N sale and Vici Collection for the trip. Amongst all of this, you need to research PR companies to get on the list for the shows. Tamy, of VStylist took the lead on this because I was so busy with my full time job. It tooks weeks to hear back and get added to list. By the week of we did have 5 confirmed shows and two parties.

Once that was set, I started planning my looks. I literally bought a large mirror and a clothing rack to keep myself organized. I tried on and took photos of everything I planned. My Vici items did not come in until 8pm the night before I left haha. I threw them in the suitcase and hoped for the best.  My photographer was coming too so I was going to do some small shoots as well. I brought only low heeled booties (boots), and sneakers to New York and so glad I did. It is a ton of walking as you can expect. I also had roll-up flats in my bags at all times.

When we first got there, we checked out the area and had a bite. When we went back to the hotel to check in we were flabbergasted by how tiny the room was and how many of us there were. YIKES! We made it work. We literally had suitcases, bags, shoes etc stored in every crevest in that room.  We unpacked, walked to the wine store, stocked up then started getting ready for the first (and my only) show. We were late (the traffic in NYC is insane, you have to leave 30 min before you even plan on leaving). We were able to catch the last 5 minutes of the first show at the Chelsea pier. We had invites for the next show as well as one at Spring Studios. We decided to leave and head to Spring Studios which was much better than Chelsea Pier but the Liu Young show WAS NOT. I was quite disappointed, the designs were nothing that I would, or probably anyone else would wear. It was a little artsy but mostly hideous.  We then we back to our rooftop bar at the hotel for a drink and ended our night slightly early since we had all been up since 4am.

Day two! We all slept in til about 9am and headed to RH (Restoration Hardware) Rooftop for lunch around 1:30 in SoHo. It was breathtaking! We had a delicious lunch, did a quick shoot then by the time we were done lunch it was like 3:30pm and there was a show at 6. We got changed and ran to Times Square to do a quick shoot there, it actually was my favorite one.

I did not make it to that show because I decided to have dinner with Dan's friend instead at a Korean BBQ place in midtown. I put down a bottle of red wine headed back around 9:30 and was passed out by 10pm. LOL. So many things to do, so little time honestly!

The last day there were not any shows scheduled just a wrap up party 6:30-10pm. So we got up and took a cab to Central Park where we did I did a two-outfit photoshoot, one being at the Bethesda Terrace where Blair and Chuck got married. My feet were starting to scream. I was so thankful for the flats but they were soooo flat they almost hurt MORE. After we walked a mile and a half, which doesn't seem that long but it was FAR to get Joe's pizza. I had barely eaten in the time I had been there by this point so I was eating the pizza and a lot of it. Finally we made it, ate and I was SPENT. We went back to the room to nap and then got ready for the party around 8pm. It was just ok. Met some really nice girls, had a $20 drink then found a cute little wine and cheese place up the street. Joy and I killed an amazing bottle, we had some great conversation and just like that we were in bed and leaving at 9am for the airport. So, fashion weekÃ'° I did ONE show. LOL. There is just so much to do in so little time and it's exhausting.

I did not make it to Brooklyn, we did not make it to the ShopBob pop-up, I also wanted to head down to see the FRIENDS location but the time is so short. I would say the first year was successful but I definitely would like to plan things a little more for next time.

Now I am pooped and ready to nap all weekend :)

I want to thank JustFab, ShoeDazzle, Erika Williner Designs, You Glow Spray Tanning for sponsoring me for NYFW! You made me look and feel like a million bucks, thank you!

XO, Cheers!

In 2017 I decided to start getting Botox. I would look in the mirror and cringe at the site of my 11s. The three years prior to that I was working behind a desk, on the computer full time and being that I am type-A I would concentrate so hard that my eyes practically became one. Except they didn't, but instead left me with a big fat #11 in the center of my eyes. So I went on Groupon to find a reliable med spa with a deal for new customers. That is when I discovered Tre MedSpa in Westchase. My initial impression of the spa was "OH MY GOSH this is gorgeous!"

The waiting room is draped in jewels, and as your breathe in, scents of peppermint make you feel at ease; it's calming and welcoming as is the amazing staff. I have always been greeted kindly, offered water and made to feel at home.

After 2 years of getting Botox with Dr. Pham I decided to try out dermal fillers as well. I never had an issue with my lips but the older I get, the thinner and dryer they get. Even though I moisturize them nightly. Dr. Pham is always super knowledgable and always informs you of what she is going to do before she does it. She never pushes you to do anything you don't want but does have a way of making you want to look the best!

I went with the Juvederm Vobella which is the lightest one you can get. This is Dr. Pham's favorite because it comes out the most natural looking. I only did the .55 ML syringe the first time to see how my lips took to it and how they looked. I also did two shots of Botox above my lip (called a lip flip) to help relax the upper lip for a more defined smile.

The Process

Dr. Pham puts on an external numbing lubricant that sits on your lips for about 15 minutes. When it's all numbed up she takes a small needle on each corner of the lips and inserts more numbing into the actual lips. This product numbs immediately.

When she is ready to go, she takes another small needle to make a hole in one corner of the mouth, this is where she threads the teeny tiny tube into the lips. What I love about this process is that she does not poke holes through the front of your lips leaving large bruises. She threads the lip and releases the Volbella as she pulls the tube out. This is mostly painless because of the numbing but the closer to the inner lip she gets, you will feel a little pinching. It is not unbearable, but I have a very high pain tolerance. She does this to both sides.

This last time around, I had her create me a cupids bow and philtrum (the two little lines above your lip). I did not have either of these and she built them with the Volbella. So cool.

Tre MedSpa often has specials and they have a customer loyalty program where you can earn $30 credit towards your next visit. I love Dr. Pham and her whole staff. Visit their website for a complete list of services and mention my name when you go & receive $20 off!!
